Social Conservative of the Day: Aug. 28th 2008

Pierre Lemieux, Conservative, Glengarry-Prescott Russell
Had Don Boudria run again for the Liberals in the 2006 election there is a good chance that Canada would not have Pierre Lemieux as one of its strongest voices for traditional values in parliament today.
M. Lemieux won the riding by 223 votes. The riding, like all of eastern Ontario had been trending Conservative in revent years, and with the departure of Boudria, the Tories finally went ove the top in this longtime Liberal stronghold.
M. Lemieux is a practising Roman catholic, loyal to the teachings of the magisterium, and has opposed Henry Morgentaler's accession to the Order of Canada, and gave an impassioned speech against so-called Same Sex "Marriage", arguably the best of any MP.
I encourage M. Lemieux to keep speaking up for truth and traditional values, and I also call on all those who claim to support a culture of life to get behind MPs such as M. Lemieux, and give them the clout they need to stand up to politically expedient party leadership.
